Critical Thinking Practice- Digitally Edited Images & Fake News

Grades: 3rd Grade, 4th Grade
Subjects: Digital Citizenship

Student Instructions

In this activity you will have the chance to use your critical thinking skills to decide whether pictures and news stories that you see on the internet are real or fictional. Some news stories that have been published online are actually fake. Many pictures out on the web have been digitally edited using programs like Photo Shop to make them look very real and that is why we need to think critically about what we see and read online. There are some review materials for you on the first slide if you would like a few reminders before you get started on the activity. Please play the 'listen' button on each slide so that you know what you need to do for each part of the activity. When you have done all that you need to, click on the check to add this in to your journal.
