Student Instructions
1. Look and read each page. 2. Practice saying the animal names aloud. 3. Match words, read the story, and answer questions. 4. Make a short picture and voice caption about one animal. 5. Share with a partner and write a short paragraph.
Teacher Notes (not visible to students)
This activity teaches vocabulary, reading fluency, listening, speaking, and short writing for English learners. Use the pages in order: start with the visual recap and vocabulary. Model pronunciation of each animal name. For the reading page, read aloud once while students listen, then let students read aloud to practice. Provide sentence starters for writing and speaking (e.g., "I like the elephant because..."). Prep: Print or display animal images if you have them. For the partner activity, have crayons, paper, or tablets ready. For Show What You Know, show students how to record a short voice caption (5–20 seconds). High-quality answers: In the open-ended paragraph, a strong response names an animal, includes 2 facts from the reading or vocabulary (food, size, or a physical feature), and uses 3–5 clear sentences. For the Ai-graded screen-record task, a high-quality response shows a clear picture or selection of the animal, labels the animal name, and speaks a 1–2 sentence caption that explains one fact.
