Search for an informational nonfiction book within your Lexile reading level using GetEpic.com books. Read the book aloud. As you read, pay attention to the text features we learned about and how they help you when reading. After you are finished reading, take screenshots of pages that show an example of each of the text features. You may need to take screenshots of multiple pages.
Add the screenshots to Seesaw. Then use the text tool to label the text features found on each page. Add a short audio on each label that explains what the label is. Below the label, write a short complete sentence describing how this text feature helps you.

On GetEpic.com you can find nonfiction informational texts by topic or you can have students search. It is best to have this assignment overlap what is being discussed in other subjects. You can combine this with Quizlet to help students study words: https://quizlet.com/_9srqct?x=1jqt&i=145ydt I provide a printed graphic organizer for students to keep as a cheat sheet. There are many free text features graphic organizers online or you can export the Quizlet linked above. I recommend printing it and giving it to students to keep for future reference.
