Teacher Notes (not visible to students)

This was one of my students' favorite word work stations. It combines fine motor skills, spelling, reading, and writing sight words. If you have shared devices in your classroom this will work great! Prep before sharing this activity with your students... 1. Get your rainbow strips cut. 2. Determine what your students will use to choose sight words. My students had their own sight word bag so they chose the words they wanted to create. 3. Play the example video in the activity during a whole group lesson to model the activity. 4. Share the activity with your students. When students are at the station, they can watch the video again if they need additional modeling. When students are done building their words, they take a photo in Seesaw and read their words. Don't miss the follow-up activity to this where students try and put together each other's puzzles. Search for "Rainbow Word Puzzles - Part 2" in the Seesaw Activity Library.
